Addressing the audience, Mr. Mohan Charan Majhi said about Odisha’s contribution towards creating 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis, which makes Odisha a leading state among India. Nayagarh district is first in the list, with 98% of its women under the scheme, followed by the other states like Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara.
What is the Lakhpati Didi Initiative?
Lakhpati Didi was launched as a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Activity points to empower at least 2 crore of ladies from self-help groups (SHGs) over India to win a yearly wage of ₹1 lakh or more by the year 2027. This scheme gives training, credit support, market linkages, and entrepreneurial opportunities to rural women, making them move from sustenance-based work to profitable growth-oriented businesses.

Subhadra Shakti Mela: A state-run fair that generated ₹5 crore in income and made 400 new Lakhpati Didis by interfacing SHGs specifically to clients.
Subhadra Shakti Café: A special concept where ladies from SHGs run professionally overseen cafes in major cities of Odisha, advancing business within the food and hospitality segment.
3.Launch of New Support Programs:
The state government, moreover, launched the Lakhpati Didi Sahayika Yojana, a scheme to strengthen grassroots support. Over 62,000 community support staff were brought beneath this conspiracy to supply field-level direction, preparing and mentorship to yearning SHG ladies.
